“We all need to buy Rakhis. Why don’t we use this opportunity as a social cause?” suggested Mr. Amit Dongre, Labour Welfare & Public Relations Officer, Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation Ltd.
All eyes glittered. Finally, a brilliant initiative had unveiled itself to the students of Maharashtra Institute of Labour Studies who were waiting eagerly to contribute their bit for the society.
Soon, stalls were set up where Rakhis were being sold in bulk. These Rakhis were made by visually impaired women under the banner of the National Association for the Blind (NAB). Foundation stone laid by Dr. Miss Helen Keller, NAB is one of the largest voluntary organizations in the disability sector. NAB is engaged in empowering visually challenged population of our country and enabling them to lead a life of dignity and productivity.
The occasion would not have been possible without the wholehearted efforts by Mr. Raviraj Shinde, Mr. Yogesh Dhotre, Mr. Nikhil Hingane and Mr. Vishwaraj Desai, students of MLS Part 2. We are overwhelmed not only with the huge participation of students and faculty for this noble cause, but also by the initiative undertaken by Haffkine to sell Rakhi’s amongst it’s employees. MILS students also visited Anganwadi kids for whom the Rakhis were bought by Mr. Amit Donre on behalf of Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation Ltd.
Indeed, this year MILS celebrated an emotional bond between siblings with difference!
